I am from Haifa, a city in Palestine. I was born in 1959 in Bourg Al Shamali, Lebanon. I have seven children. My eldest son is doing his masters in Arabic literature now. I have a very good relationship with all my children. In 1975 someone offered me a job in embroidery and I got paid for the first time. I felt like I was on the edge of glory. I went home and I shouted “I got paid!”.

I remember that I went to my brothers and that I said: “Go and buy whatever you want”.

I taught embroidery to all my daughters. I didn’t want to keep this precious art for myself. Tatreez Design is a family which I belong to. We literally spend time with each other more than we spend time with our families. Tatreez Design is a shelter for all the vulnerable women. We started from nothing.
